There is nothing quite like a ride on the open road on a Royal Enfield Classic Motorcycle.

Now you can experience the thrill of riding one of these iconic motorcycles with us through the Cradle of Humankind.

Customised trips and tours
Let us customise a trip or tour specifically suited to your needs whether as a day outing, a weekend overnight ride or a longer country tour. We can accommodate between 6 and 12 riders in a group outing supported with a back-up team that provides camping or lodge accommodation depending on your budget.

Up Coming Rides

By far our most popular outing. A short ride exploring the beauty of the Magalies.
We meet at our depot in Muldersdrift at 8am where we leave our cars in secure parking, pick up the bikes and complete any last minute paperwork. Our first leg is a short 3km down the road to get everyone familiar with the Enfields before we stop for coffee and a trip briefing at Cradle Moon Lodge on the Heritage Dam. From here we head north into the Cradle of Humankind, following the Magalies Meander in a north westerly direction along the southern slope of the Magaliesberg range.

While the purpose of the outing is to enjoy the ride there will be many opportunities to stop off along the way and learn about this World Heritage Site. Our first stop will be at Kromdraai village where we visit the Rhino Park and the first gold mine on the Highveld, then on to Serkfontein Caves followed by breakfast in the small hamlet of Magaliesburg.

Or return journey give riders the option of a short gravel section linking up with the Cradle exhibit site of Maropeng before refueling in Muldersdrift en-route to the depot.

Breakfast runs are open to small groups or individual riders. Please contact the office to book a date and secure your ride.

A full day trip with ample time on the Classic Royal Enfield.

As with all our tours, we meet at our depot in Muldersdrift at 8am where we leave our cars in secure parking, pick up the bikes and complete any last minute paperwork.

The first leg of the tour takes us to the Dutchman Coffee Roasters at the Culinary Warehouse near Lanseria where we plan the rest of the day’s outing…

From the roasters we head to Hartebeespoort Dam where we could take in an Airboat ride or cable car ride and a visit to the Chameleon curio market followed by a tapas lunch in the orange orchards or on a cheese farm en-route to Magaliesburg.

The emphasis is on a slow ride allowing ample opportunity to take in the sights and features of the Magalies Meander and we will stop frequently to hear  historic stories and absorb relevant facts which has identified this region as The Cradle of Humankind. After stopping in the hamlet of Magaliesburg  for afternoon tea we will head back to the depot via Maropeng and our refueling stop in Muldersdrift.

Day tours are open to small groups or individual riders. Please contact the office to book a date and secure your ride.

Royal Enfield

Royal Enfield motorcycles have been in production since 1908 and have served as both a work horse and a cruiser in most of the countries that make up the Commonwealth. Today, Royal Enfield motorcycles are manufactured and exported globally from India and while some small modifications have been made over the years to comply with changing legislation, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and 500 remains true to tradition as a robust machine that is easy to ride on any terrain, simple to maintain and affordable.

About Enfield Tours

Enfield Tours, based in Johannesburg, has a fleet of 16 Royal Enfield 500 Military Green Classics available to bikers who want to experience the pure pleasure of riding one of these iconic motorcycles on the open road. Our target market is decidedly older (45+) bikers who either no longer own a motor bike and would like to participate on one of our weekend breakfast runs or an occasional long ride, or those who still have a bike but just want to experience the charm of riding a classic on an open road at an easy pace.

We operate throughout the year from our depot in Muldersdrift just west of the City of Johannesburg from where we offer weekend breakfast runs and guided day rides through the Cradle of Humankind, over night excursions in the Magalies mountains and 5 – 7 day trips which can be arranged to suit your required interest, including visiting places of historical and geographical significance or to view our abundant wildlife.

In the summer months, from November till March, we also operate day trips around the Cape Penisular, overnight excursions through the wine lands and across numerous mountain passes including 5 – 7 day trips along the Garden Route and Route 62.

We will also custom make trips for parties of 6 or more riders with back up vehicles, fully equipped for  camping, mechanical and medical assistance and spare bikes on trailers.

In the tradition of Royal Enfield, our tours are unhurried, relaxed and informative. The emphasis is on enjoying the ride and taking in the environment.

Bookings, contracts and payments are facilitated through Drifters Adventure Tours.
